How to build an award-winning IR Website?

Every company wants to have its effort in building an IR Page recognized with an award. Of course, there are many different criteria and features analyzed by various institutions, but delivering the following items will put your company on the right path:

  • Make the best use of the homepage:  use that space to explain why an investor should invest in your company and invest it now. There can be videos, the latest results, ESG data, subscribe to mailing lists, and a very easy-to-navigate menu. These things stand out when looking at an excellent home page for an investor relations website.
  • Highlight the “big numbers”: You should try to add all the big numbers that catch everyone’s attention, whether ESG numbers, traffic report information or anything relevant to your company. It has to be easy to maintain, so if you’re doing the latest results, it’s ok to update it manually because it’s something that you update every quarter or so, but if you’re doing something that changes daily, try to find a way to automate it. Otherwise, you’re just adding more work to your daily routine.
  • Interactive results: Interactive results are a big trend because it helps retail investors analyze the company in an easier-to-navigate way. For example, they calculate the return on investments, dividends, and anything relevant. If they are a fund, it’s easy to see and download a spreadsheet with all the guidelines to model the company.
  • Videos: You should use videos to highlight your story. Use videos for the CEO message, a CFO describing the earning results, or it can be even more creative. For example, if you’re doing an Investor Day and want to add all of the interaction of the product demos or to navigate through a factory, or if you’re a real estate company, navigating through a project that you’re building adds life to the information. You can be creative and interview customers or senior management that wouldn’t usually be available to investors.
  • Accessible on all devices: When talking about videos and accessibility, make it short so people can see the video on any device. People can take a look at websites from tablets or phones on the road, so it has to be interactive yet accessible from any device as well.
  • Subscribe to mailing: Your goal is to retain prospective investors’ information navigating the website, but don’t forget to make it GDPR compliant.
  • ESG Data: Be clear on your ESG actions and summarize them well on your website. There is no IR anymore without a minimum of ESG Disclosure, so use that space to showcase your company’s best practices and reports on the area.
  • Security: We are talking about a compliance website, so have your I.T. team test whoever you choose to develop your website with, have them approve it, and make good use of the technology.

In the end, having fun making your website more inviting and informative will make it stand out and, hopefully, better qualified to get that Best IR Website Award.
